I love driving cross country but.....

..................................................................

I love driving cross country but...(there's always a "but", isn't there?)
Once I get on the left coast, I'm still at least a week away from home.

Once I start driving again, it starts to feel like I'm driving on a treadmill, you know, on a treadmill, you run and run and run but you never get anywhere.

I got to take a least one day off (this time it's from Friday afternoon to Monday morning) and days off don't take me closer to home.
And I'm on road to make money, not spend it so I usually stay at the truck stop. (I did get a hotel room this week-end.)

It's not quite as bad as jet-lag but I still go by Eastern time. So I'm 3 hours ahead of the Sun and the people around me.

I miss Melinda and Eva-Mae.

...................

5 inches of fresh snow this morning.
I left the snow-blower in the garage and use a shovel instead.

I worked out tonight.

I am now 40.
I got married 10 years ago.
I started driving a truck about 8 years ago (99% of my loads are no-touch).
I quit smoking 3 years ago.
In college, I weighed 180 lbs.
When I got married I was about 200.
When I started driving, I checked in 220.
When I quit smoking, 245.
Now, 275.

So...
...Yesterday, I stopped at Wal-Mart in York, Nebraska and bought some more Slim-Fast and I found a set of Gold Gym dumbbells for $20.

Tonight, I got them out of the box after dinner.
I felt guilty having them still unopened after eating some Popeye's fried chicken.
And I found an online home trainer website, found some exercises I could do with the dumbbells while in a space the size of a big closet.

And I worked out.
For the 1st time in years.

I was on a diet to keep from gaining more weight, maybe now I can lose some and get my college days figure back.

Welcome back to work Luke

My wife kicked me out of the house and said "Go back to work".

Got home for Christmas on the 23rd and got back on the road today, January 6th.
